Combining disciplines and their expertise to push back cancer
On the Nantes–Angers university hospital site, the SIRIC ILIAD leads integrated research of excellence against cancer by combining the know-how of doctors and researchers from a multitude of disciplines (nuclear medicine, oncology, hematology, biological sciences, human and social sciences, epidemiology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics) with the logic of opening-up the disciplines. It brings together medical, scientific, and technological strengths :
- Care and clinical cancer research teams from 3 health establishments (CHUs and CLCC) in the Pays de la Loire,
- 30 research teams from 9 laboratories (Inserm, Universities, Ecole Centrale, Arronax, Cancer Registry, …)
- 28 technological platforms, infrastructures and support structures from fundamental, translational and clinical research
Our ambition :
Become a hub of international excellence in cancer research
By relying on a research and care continuum, the ambitions of the SIRIC ILIAD are to :
- Conduct integrated research of excellence against cancer on the Nantes–Angers site, as close as possible to our patients, for better management at a prognostic and therapeutic level
- Develop tools to predict quality of life during the care pathway and on returning to work after treatment has finished
- Accelerate the transfer of scientific innovation to the clinics to benefit the patients and medical progress
- Encourage the dissemination of research results to the general public and health professionals and reinforce the town-hospital connection by training practitioners
- Reinforce the links with patients’ associations for a better understanding of research and considering the patients’ expectations
- Contribute to the structuring of the Nantes-Angers site by encouraging the implementation of common research infrastructures
- Increase the visibility and appeal of the research teams, both nationally and internationally
